The National Monuments Service's description

The following description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Carlow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1993). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
Date of revision: 16 December 2009
Revised by: J. Farrelly

According to OS Letters (1839, 29) originally three crosses here. To N of present graveyard is well-preserved solid-wheeled cross with central boss and rope mouldings on each face in original base (H 2.3m). Close by is large pyramidal base with deep socket with mortice, presumably belonging to large and tall cross reputed to have been here. Head of cross now stands immediately S of church within graveyard (CW012-048002-), similar to above but without large bosses. Immediately to the S of the nave of the present church is possibly a former church site.
