The National Monuments Service's description
Orpen (1906, 376) suggests that there was a castle near the present Castlemore House which belonged to the Eustaces in the late sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. He also adds (ibid., 379) following O'Donovan that "about five chains north of Castlemore moat is the site of an old castle which belonged to the Eustace family. None of it remains". The precise location of this castle is unknown.
