The National Monuments Service's description
The following description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Carlow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1993). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
Date of upload/revision: 17 July 2007
Shown on 1839 'OS 6-inch' map as small circular enclosure (max. diam. c. 20m) and on 1908 ed. as small mound on top of rise. Price described site as a modified natural mound with traces of fosse and bank at base, slight platform half way up and summit. diam. c 3m, (1929, Notebook No. 4). Mound has been quarried extensively. None of these features now visible. Location overlooking Scotland Brook to N, where it goes through small gorge, suggests defensive site.
