Shown as standing on island in River Barrow on Down Survey (1655-6) map. Built by St Leger family. Subsequently passed to Butler family before passing to Bests. Probably stood on or close to farm buildings c. 200m W of church (CW002-002----). Large quantities of stone removed from here to the Larchfield estate about 20 years ago. Present walls are of later date.
