The National Monuments Service's description

Raised circular area (int. diam. c. 40m) enclosed by a low bank of earth and stone. An earlier description (OPW 1974) noted traces of an external fosse. The perimeter has been largely destroyed from NNW-N-ENE and at S where modern farm buildings abut the site. Original entrance not recognisable. A raised circular platform (diam. c. 12m) in the E quadrant of the interior presumably represents a house platform. A circular mound (H 2m) in a central position in the interior appears to be a natural feature. At the base of this mound, on its N side, foundations of a rectangular house (int. dims. c. 10m E-W; c. 5m N-S) are visible. Possible remains of souterrain at centre of internal area (CV042-005002-).

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cavan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1995). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
