The National Monuments Service's description

Simple rectangular church (int. dims. 12.3m NW-SE; 6.3m NE-SW) built with large and small split slabs, situated roughly at the centre of an irregularly shaped graveyard. All of the church windows have been blocked up and access is by a lintelled rectangular doorway in the NW wall. Davies (1948, 110-1) noted that the rectangular windows do not look older than the 17th century though tradition says that the E wall is pre-Reformation. The foundation of the N wall, however, cannot have been made for the present church. The walls contain a few punch-dressed stones, and above the NW door are stones from a two-light window with plain chamfer, probably of the 15th or 16th century.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cavan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1995). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
