The National Monuments Service's description

A large, apparently modern, heart-shaped graveyard on the summit of a high drumlin hill, within which may have been a church, which according to Davies (1948, 73-7) was possibly located in a depression in the S part of the site. He also suggested that the graveyard enclosure may originally have been 'a large hilltop rath'. However, there is no surface evidence to support this suggestion.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cavan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1995). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
