The National Monuments Service's description

Situated on a natural terrace on the slope of a high hill. The ground falls steeply to a stream 20m to W. Trapezium-shaped area (int. dims. c. 28m N-S x 27.5m across its broader S side) enclosed by the remains of a bank and fosse on its W side and elsewhere by a low earthen bank and a well-defined, partly waterlogged fosse. Original entrance not recognisable.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cavan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1995). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
