The National Monuments Service's description
Small circular island in Farnham Lough, c. 150m from the shoreline. Davies (ITA Survey 1946) recorded that the island has a stone facing from which piles protrude. He also noted a wooden platform on which habitation material is piled at the centre of the island and suggested a 17th-century date on the basis of finds of bellarmine at the site. (Davies 1942, 19).
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cavan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1995). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
