The National Monuments Service's description
Castle site situated S of a late 19th/early 20th-century house which itself was constructed from the castle material (local information). Davies (1948, 123) recorded what he believed to be a standing portion of the castle. However, this is unlikely as the later house is at least 100 years old. (Wilsdon 2010, 191-98)
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cavan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1995). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
