The National Monuments Service's description

A bawn of sods was possibly erected at this location during the Plantation period. Water was apparently drawn from the nearby White Lough to fill its fosses. No visible remains at ground level (Davies 1948a, 116-7). It remains unplanted in a forest.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cavan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1995). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.

Date of revision: 14 April 2016
