The National Monuments Service's description
Marked as a tower on Petty's Down Survey map of 1654. Reputedly built by Coote, it apparently stood on an artificial platform beside a stream. No visible remains at ground level. (Davies 1948, 118-9)
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cavan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1995). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
