The National Monuments Service's description
Marked 'Fort' on OS 1836 ed. and 'Site of' on 1876 ed. The site is divided into two unequal portions by a very deep modern drain running ENE-WSW. The much larger SSE portion has been levelled and there are no surface remains. To NNW is a low circular mound (dims. 15m ENE-WSW; 7m N-S ; H c. 1m) which Davies (ITA Survey 1942) believed to be a natural feature.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cavan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1995). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
