The National Monuments Service's description
Marked on all OS eds. Large irregular boulder (H 1.1m; dims. 1.15m x 0.76m) orientated E-W. A hole has been cut into the top of the stone to hold a wooden post which forms part of the field boundary. The stone was used as an altar during the Penal times and two apparently natural depressions in its upper surface were used to hold the water and wine (local information). Also on top of the stone is an OS bench-mark.
