The National Monuments Service's description
This monument lies in a forest and is incorporated in a field fence. Greatly ruined, it consists of four large orthostats and a large displaced slab leaning over them. The structure has been converted for use as a shed by the addition of masonry walling. Although difficult to interpret, the remains appear to be those of a portal tomb. Two tall orthostats, both about 2m high, stand roughly in line and 0.55m apart at the W. Running to the NE from the middle of each is another stone. These two are about half as high as the tall orthostats. The leaning slab, a displaced roofstone, rests with one side against the northern of the two tall stones and another side on the ground at the E. (de Valera and Ó Nualláin 1972, 108-9, No. 6)
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cavan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1995). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
