The National Monuments Service's description
Donated to UCC (CO074-149---- ) from the collection of Admiral Boyle Somerville (1938, 59) and said to come from Gortbrac farm. Shee (1968, 146-149) describes the stone which measures '147cm x 70cm and approximately 13cm thick', decorated with 'cupmarks, circles and grooves'. The motifs include a cup-and-circle with radial line; a deep cupmark with concentric pennannular circle and radial line, and a cupmark enclosed in an arc which is 'divided from the rest of the decoration by a well picked arc'.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
