The National Monuments Service's description

On NE tip of Ringarogy Island, overlooking channel of Ilen estuary. Raised platform (22m N-S; 34m E-S; H c. 0.75m) with low grass covered undulations indicates area of site; stones from castle were ferried, in 1826, to Skibbereen to build the Pro Cathedral. Castle of the O Driscoll clan (Healy 1988, 181).
