The National Monuments Service's description
Immediately inside defences of coastal promontory fort (CO144-041002-). Trapezoidal area (max. N-S 21m; min. N-S 17m: max. E-W 22m; min. E-W 16m) enclosed by low grass-covered walls. Stonework at NW angle (H c. 1m) marks corner of castle; some stone facing preserved along W side: noticeable inturn 14m from NW corner indicates SW angle of tower according to Westropp (1914, 106) and some low sod-covered foundations running c. 8m E-W; 'are remains of tower which rose over 40 feet in Bonoparte's time'. 'Decayed human skeleton' found by locals, beneath a slab, c. 1870 in S and E area of enclosure (Westropp 1914, 106).
