The National Monuments Service's description
In the centre of an ecclesiastical enclosure (CO141-029001-). The sod-covered foundations of a rectangular structure (10m E-W; 7.6m N-S) with a low D-shaped platform (8.6m E-W; 9m N-S) adjoining its S wall. The structure may be the remains of a small church while the adjoining platform may be the site of the children's burial ground (CO141-029002-) which is marked on the 1944 OS 6-inch map.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
