The National Monuments Service's description
In graveyard (CO139-020001-) ruins of late-medieval church. Rectangular structure (14.62m E-W; 7.44m N-S) missing upper parts of E and W gables. Surrounds of door in S wall gone. Windows near E end S wall and in centre of E gable; flat-headed light (S wall) with splayed and lintelled embrasures. Church known locally as "Cill Cheangail" and possibly identified with parish of "Cellmolaggi" mentioned in taxation list 1199 (O'Donoghue 1986, 6).
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
