The National Monuments Service's description

In pasture on E-facing slope; rectangular area enclosed by stone wall; still in use. Shown as overgrown, roughly circular feature on OS 6-inch map (1842). Down Survey (1655-6) map (1652) shows church in this position, therefore site probably that of medieval church (CO132-067001-) of Caheragh which was in repair in 1639 but entirely gone by 1699 (Brady 1867, 46-7).

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
