The National Monuments Service's description

On the S shore of Dunmanus Bay. This promontory fort comprises a low, narrow, ridge of rocky land (Wth 8.1-13.5m) which projects (L 28.7m) to the WSW. A rock-cut fosse (L 27m N-S; max. Wth 17.6m; max. D 3m) on the landward side of this ridge appears to be all that remains of the defences. The outer edge of the fosse, especially on the S side, is very uneven. Dunbeacon Castle (CO130-025002-) lies immediately to the WSW of the fosse.

The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009).
