The National Monuments Service's description

On a high point of the crest of a NE-SW ridge of outcropping rock, overlain with patches of rough hill pasture. The location, c. 2km NW of Kilcrohane village, commands extensive views of the entire surrounding region including Bantry Bay to the N and Dunmanus Bay to the S. The monument consists of a roughly oval cairn (10m NE-SW; c. 6m NW-SE) straddling the crest of the c. 6m wide ridge; some of the stones have spilled down the steep slope on each side. A rectangular platform for storing peat abuts its S side and a second stands further to the S; it is likely that the cairn served as a quarry for these structures. The outer limits of the cairn are obscured by a cover of heather and gorse. A number of upright slabs visible within the cairn suggest a possible chamber (L.1.4m) aligned WSW-ENE.

The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009).
