The National Monuments Service's description

On slight eminence, overlooking Bandon river to N. Only W wall (L 7.5m) and short return of N wall (L c. 1.5m) stand, to 2nd floor level. Skewbacks visible for vaults (on N-S axis) over ground and 2nd floor levels. Indications of ground floor door at W end of N wall; central flat-headed window ope in W wall at 1st floor level; wall press at N end of W wall at 2nd floor level. In Grose's (Stalley 1991, 46) early 19th century depiction, castle shown as ruinous; pointed arch doorway on ground floor of N wall; 3 storeys with central opes above this, one a slit window, other two broken. Built by de Courcey family (Healy 1988, 286-7).
