The National Monuments Service's description
In pasture atop natural rise, just N of burial ground (CO118-072002-). Artificially raised (H 1.25m) circular area (24m N-S; 25m E-W) of earthen construction. Used as burial ground (CO118-072001-). Known locally as fort.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
