In grounds of Adrigole House, at head of Adrigole Harbour. Shown as part of 'Metal foundry (in ruins)' (CO116-005001-) on OS 6-inch map (1842). The only evidence of a furnace is slag and vitrified stone strewn on ground. McCracken (1957, 127) refers to a "large works" here in the 17th/18th century.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
