The National Monuments Service's description
In rough pasture, on a N-facing slope on Bear Island. According to local information, a NE-facing opening, covered by briars and bushes, leads to earth-cut underground chambers that extend in a SW direction. A local person confirmed entering the chambers as a child. The entrance is now closed for safety reasons.
The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009).
