The National Monuments Service's description
In pasture, below crest of hill, on NNW-facing slope. Roughly circular area (38m NW-SE; 34m NE-SW) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 1.6m) with external fosse (D 1.05m) and counterscarp bank (H 0.6m). Bank lowest NW->NNE due to slippage into fosse; gap (Wth 1.4m) to NE with causeway across fosse. Interior raised on NW side to compensate for hillslope. Townland boundary crosses interior, off-centre to NW on NE-SW axis. Possible souterrain (9088) in N quadrant.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 3: Mid Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
