The National Monuments Service's description
At centre of graveyard (CO088-04501-), ruins of rectangular church (17.8m E-W; 7.5m N-S). Church appears to have been re-built, as parts of late-medieval two-light ogee-headed window re-used as quoin stones at SE corner. W gable stands to full height but upper portions of E gable and top of side walls fallen. Door ope in centre of W gable and near W end of S wall; two window opes in S wall and one each in N and E walls; all are poorly preserved. Church interior long used for burial. Parish church of Ballintemple (Power 1940, 18), according to Coleman (1913-16c) 'anciently called Ballygourney'.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 2: East and South Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1994). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
