The National Monuments Service's description
Immediately to E of holy well (CO088-044002-) is upright limestone slab carved on both sides, associated with 'rounds' made at well. On one side is figure of crucified Christ in low relief (bottom part of stone may be broken as figure's waist now at ground level), on the reverse is a face in profile and the inscription 'Seven Pater Nosters and Seven Ave Marias. The Honour 1731' (Power 1940, 108). Both faces are scored by inscribed crosses.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 2: East and South Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1994). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
