The National Monuments Service's description
Archaeological testing was carried out in advance of a large multi-phase housing development at Carrigaline Middle in 2001. Two pits were uncovered immediately W of a rath (CO087-030----). The first of these pits (1.1m N-S; 2.4m E-W) was irregularly shaped while the second (0.5m N-S; 0.3m E-W) was subcircular in plan. Both pits consisted of a soft grey silty material. A stony area (1m N-S; 0.55m E-W) lay immediately to the W. (Sherlock 2002)
