The National Monuments Service's description
Day (1897, 189) records the discovery of a decorated stone at Belvidere, near Cork. The stone is 'unhewn and pear-shaped' and 'roughly measured six feet long by four feet wide and two feet thick'. It was covered on the greater part of its surface 'by parallel lines some of which are connected by semi-circular grooves, by V-shaped figures having the right hand member longer than the left, by perfectly formed markings and by others that are ribbed or rifled not unlike the casts of bivalve shells'. Exact location of stone not known.
