The National Monuments Service's description
Modern house and farmyard stand on or near site of castle, of which there is no visible surface trace nor any local memory or tradition relating to it (PJH). According to Healy (1988, 18), 'seems to have been a castle of the Barretts'.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 3: Mid Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
