The National Monuments Service's description
Hump-backed road bridge (Wth 2.9m) over Bride River. Original bridge (O'Keeffe and Simington 1991, 170-1, fig. 84) had eight round arches with triangular breakwaters topped by semi-pyramidal cappings. A post-1865 drainage scheme replaced three northernmost arches, which spanned river, with single segmental arch. Remaining five arches now blocked up; bases of pointed breakwaters survive between them. On downstream side pointed breakwater is brought up to form refuge in parapet wall. According to local tradition, earlier part built in Cromwellian times (Westropp 1908, 174-5) but O'Keeffe and Simington (ibid.) uncertain as to its date.
