The National Monuments Service's description
In pasture, on SE-facing slope. Circular raised area (26m E-W; 24m N-S) defined by earthen bank (int. H 1.6m; ext. H 3m) NNW->E, with external fosse (max. D 1.6m) NW->E; scarp elsewhere, topped by substantial stone field boundary. Entrance (Wth 1.3m) to E; defined by upright contiguous slabs (L 0.6m-0.9m; Wth 0.1m-0.15m; H c. 0.8m) which form revetment to bank. Row of stones on S side almost free standing due to replacement of bank by stone field fence which curves outwards just before entrance. Fosse to NW partially filled with field clearance stones. Remains of cultivation ridges cross interior on N-S axis; field clearance stones dumped atapproximate centre; adjoining bank in NW quadrant is roughly square area (7m x 8m) raised c. 0.3m above surrounding level.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 3: Mid Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
