The National Monuments Service's description
On W side of road, built into break in slope. Front elevation (E) has arched recess (H 1.6m; Wth 3.78m; D c. 2m) with lower inner arch; keystone of front arch missing. Recess partially obscured by rubble. Funnel infilled and overgrown. Earthen core of kiln exposed on S side by recent excavations due to roadworks. Shown on 1842 OS 6-inch map. Kiln repaired in early 1990s.
