The National Monuments Service's description

In pasture, c. 90m to W of Bawnatemple early ecclesiastical enclosure (9198). Large smooth boulder (H 1.5m; 1.3m x 1.1m) with circular hollow (diam. 0.25m; D 0.08m) on S edge of upper surface. Known locally cure for toothaches.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 3: Mid Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
