The National Monuments Service's description
Indicated as flour mill on 1842 OS 6-inch map on N bank of Tourig river. Heavily overgrown, partially collapsed structure; wheel-pit along N elevation with stone and brick-arched opening in N wall of mill. Millstone within. Remains of two conjoined mill races (dry) indicated on 1902 and 1935 OS 6-inch maps, approaching mill from E. Southern one appears to have fed waterwheel of flour mill. Northern mill race continues E on N side of wheel-pit it was carried across by series of piers which presumably supported a launder.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 2: East and South Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1994). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
