The National Monuments Service's description
Enclosed in recent stone structure with plaque denoting Eucharistic Congress 1934. Six stones bearing crosses inscribed by pilgrims surround well. Power (1923, 178) describes masonry structure 'with narrow square-headed doorway, 3 feet by 11/2 feet. Here rounds are still made on St. Johns Eve'.
