The National Monuments Service's description
According to Macalister (1945, 81, no. 78), this stone was discovered by Windele in 1819 in the fosse of a ringfort. He described a stone, square in section with twenty-five scores on the angle, but did not read it. When he returned, sixteen years later, the stone had been broken up for building material. Macalister surmises the inscription to have consisted of one name only. Original location not known. (Power et al. 1994, no. 4233)
