The National Monuments Service's description

In pasture. Depicted as hachured circular enclosure (diam c. 80m) on 1842 OS 6-inch map; replaced by subrectangular field (c. 80m NNE-SSW; c. 70m ESE-WSW) on 1903 OS 6-inch map. Levelled; no visible surface trace; surrounding field fences removed. According to Hartnett (1939, 206), original rampart traceable outside of subrectangular field fences showed that fort was 'oval in plan, 300 feet N-S and 280 feet E-W'. Possible souterrain (CO061-069002-) in interior.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 3: Mid Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
