The National Monuments Service's description
'In the inner rampart of lios na hUamhain in Mary Kelleher's is a depression which marks the site of a souterrain' (UCC). Two ringforts are known in this townland (8252; 8253) but it is not clear in which one the souterrain is located.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 3: Mid Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
