The National Monuments Service's description
On top of a rock outcrop, in marshy ara. Fragment of stone wall in rubble pile all that survives of castle which, according to Healy (1988, 147) 'considerable portions remained until 1974 when it was knocked down as being too dangerous'. Power (1923, 195) describes 'a featureless fragment, 12 feet in height survives'. A castle of the Barry family (O Murchadha 1985, 26).
