The National Monuments Service's description
In reclaimed pasture, c. 15m E of a stream. This fulacht fia was excavated in 1999 in advance of the construction of the N8 Glanmire-Watergrasshill Bypass. Prior to excavation, it consisted of a grass-covered spread (c. 7m N-S; c. 5m E-W) of heat-shattered stones and charcoal-enriched soil. Excavation revealed an irregular mound (5.5m N-S; 3.5m E-W; D 0.5m) of heat-shattered stones under which was an oval pit (2.3m E-W; 1.6m N-S; D 0.35m), filled with heat-shattered stones, some silt and patches of white clay. A second smaller pit (1m E-W; 0.5m N-S; D 0.12m), filled with loamy soil and some burnt stones, was found 3m to the N. Two other fulachtaí fia (CO053-092001-, CO053-092003-) lie c. 15m to the SW and c. 30m to the NE, respectively. (Cotter 2000d, 1-8; 2000e, 33, site B)
