The National Monuments Service's description
In centre of graveyard (CO050-102002-); ruin of C of I parish church of Donoghmore. Remains consist of gabled rectangular nave (15.7m E-W; 7.9m N-S) with gabled porch attached at W end (3.7m E-W; 4.15m N-S). Original door in centre of W gable, with round arch; three blocked-up round-arched window embrasures in S wall and one in N wall; two successively blocked-up windows in E gable with later inserted door. This door gave access to large mausoleum of Townsend family which fills E half of church; smaller vault of Ruby family in SW corner; both of these inserted shortly after church abandoned in 1843 when new parish church built c. 2.4 km to ENE. Present ruin probably late 17th/early 18th-century in date; roofless in 1774 but reroofed and repaired in 1792 (Brady 1863, vol. 2, 188-90); latter date probably time when porch added and second E window inserted.
