In uneven scrub beside townland boundary. Removed. May be stone (L 2.5m; 0.7m x 0.7m) now lying beside field fence. Recorded in OS Field Books of 1838 and 1840 as 'Cloughbawn "White Stone"...about 6 feet high' (Grove White 1905-25, vol. 2, 221). According to Bowman (1934, 250), 'Cloch Bhan' referred to c. 40 acres on SE of townland, in which stood the stone; he also noted standing stone as 'broken and removed'.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
