The National Monuments Service's description

In marshy rough grazing. Grass-covered spread of burnt material. Mound levelled in 1930s. Bronze flanged axehead with stop ridge found 'at a depth of 122cm in the mound of burnt stones, resting on 15cm of similar material' (NMI Reg. No. 1936: 1780) (Cherry 1990, 50).

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 3: Mid Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
