The National Monuments Service's description
In pasture, on gentle NE-facing slope, at base of Bailocke Mountain. Circular area (diam. 24m) enclosed by heavily overgrown earthen bank (int. H 0.7m; ext. H 1m); external fosse (D 0.5m) survives to SSE. Enclosure depicted as levelled W->N on 1904 and 1938 OS 6-inch maps; this area not visible due to heavy overgrowth. Field boundary runs c. 2m outside low SW bank. Break in bank to NNE (Wth c. 2m) and SE (Wth 2m).
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
