The National Monuments Service's description

In pasture, on NE-facing slope, overlookig Crinnaloo River. Roughlycircular area (32m N-S; 28.5m E-W) enclosed by scarp (H 0.85m) N->SE; earthen bank (int. H 1.45m) SE->W with external fosse (D 1.25m). Bankstone-faced in parts. Field boundary running NE-SW truncates enclosure on NW side. Limekiln marked on 1842 OS 6-inch map would have been located approximately at E side of enclosure; no visible surface trace. Slight lipvisible at base of bank due to ploughing of interior. Locally known as fort.
