The National Monuments Service's description

In pasture, on upper edge of steep-sided SE-facing slope of valley of Owenbaun River; land slopes upwards from site on N side. Circular area (33m NNE-SSW) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 1.7m; ext. H 1.2m to base of fosse) S->SE; scarp (H 2.2m) elsewhere. External fosse (max. D 1.6m) survives SSW->NE; shallow N->NE. Cattle gap in bank to N. Break in bank (Wth 6m) to E; line of rough stone embedded along outer edge may suggest that break not original. Interior slopes down to E; raised on S side to compensate for hillslope. Fosse, bank and interior planted with coniferous trees. Skirted by field boundary to SW, W and N. Depicted on 1842 OS 6-inch map as hachured bivallate circular enclosure.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
